Children's Ministry

In addition to our classes and children's ministry events, Lords and Ladies is a ministry that engages children and their families in constructive rites of passage. Currently, this ministry focuses on three major life events: Dedication of newborns, Coming of Age (12 yrs+) and Baptism.

What can my child(ren) do during the worship assembly?

If your children are under three years of age, there is a nursery available through the hallway at the back of the auditorium. Simply take your child to the nursery at any time and check them in. On most Sundays, a children's worship called 'Promise Place' is offered for children from age three up through the fifth grade. Children participating in Promise Place typically stay with the adults for the first portion of the worship assembly. They will be dismissed before the sermon. Of course, if your children are especially shy, or if you would like them to stay with you for any reason, they are always welcome in the assembly.

What is "Family Sunday?"

Once a month (typically the third Sunday of the month) we celebrate Family Sunday. Basically, this means there is no Promise Place and all children above three years are encouraged to stay through the entire worship assembly. The format is usually altered to divide the morning up. Instead of a half hour sermon, a few five minute devotional thoughts might be offered, scattered through the worship time. Sometimes the children are called to the center for a special activity or message. We try to make the morning "kid friendly." It's an opportunity for our entire church family to worship together, and it helps prepare our children for their eventual transition out of Promise Place into the larger assembly.
